One of Conquest’s clients is a federally recognized Native American Tribe in Northern California. The goal for this engagement was to provide secure and compliant access to Office 365 Productivity Workloads in a Government Community Cloud (GCC) environment.
Our client was looking to build an information security program that would meet security best practices and adhere to major industry regulations. In order to achieve this goal, they must perform enhancements to information security program to include building a continuous monitoring program, enhance internal protection controls, improve existing documentation around security process and build an incident response program to eliminate potential threats.
Prior to hiring Conquest, our client had limited security, and their collaboration tools in place were dated and ineffective. They were looking towards the future in cloud services and moving forward into a digital age. To get started on this project, the client reached out to Conquest for guidance on technologies and services that could help them navigate through the global pandemic. The guidance Conquest provided, enabled the Tribe to properly apply for a grant from the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA for Tribal Homeland Security with a focus in cyber security.
Being that they lack cellular service, the tribe solely relies on Wi-Fi and hotspots leaving them with communicating mostly through face to face conversation. When COVID-19 closures hit, it was obvious that they needed a solution to virtually collaborate. The decision was quickly made that they needed Conquest to implement a solution.
The first task was to add the required Microsoft 365 E5 licenses to help restore collaboration capabilities utilizing Microsoft Teams. Once Microsoft Teams was configured for the recommended security controls and data governance, the next step was to assist with the deployment of Microsoft Teams out to approximately 500 users. This helped quickly restore collaboration and communication during the mandatory self-quarantine to combat the spread of COVID-19.
Since these services have been implemented, the communication and collaboration has been restored, and is better than what it was when working together in the office. Now, our client also has a secure working cloud environment that complies with industry regulations and we have enhanced their information security program overall.
